  • So…. they take photos of you, and then show you the photos with a bowl of popcorn?

Egads, I'm shuddering from extremely awkward that sounds.

But it shouldn't be a scam… I don't think. To each their own I guess.

    • You could take a selfie with your SO and throw some microwaveable popcorn in the, well, microwave, and save ~$17? I really don't know how they would do an outdoor photo shoot on that kind of money. Would they drive you to the outdoor setting? Do they take a photo of you and then photoshop the background in?

Professional cameras (I own one, not that thats any indicator) cost a couple of grand…. so I've no idea what kind of gear they would use to take your photos. Really just… no idea.

  • This is definitely not a scam. I did something similar a few years ago. We took our own professional camera in the car and got ideas from the photographer on which spots to choose in the park and how to position ourselves. Once he did the photos and left, we then took out our own and did a series of similar shots. They make money by asking you to buy more photos once they invite you back to the studio to view the photos, but we didn't buy anything obviously because our own photos actually turned out really well and we didn't need theirs.

  • It's not really a scam per se but they would engage in some serious hard selling tactics, plus you are in a cinema like setting viewing retouched photos and shocked by how goodlooking all of you turned out on the photos, if you google it you will find many people gets sucked into buying a few photos for hundreds of dollars each, that's how they make their money. If you are confident enough that you have the willpower to not give into their selling, probably should have a go :)

    EDIT
    FYI check this out: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1509003
Seems like some of those "free photos" are only valid if you purchase a 2k+ package….
