Garmin VIRB HD Action Camera (with Bonus Battery and Mount) $179.99 @ Pushys

120

I'm not sure how long this bundle (extra battery and handlebar mount) will be at this price for. It was recently ~$210.

The cheapest non-bundle I could find is $199+p&h at CotD - http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/product/garmin-virb-full-hd-…

I was going to wait for the Fly12 camera to come out. But should I just by one of these? The price seems almost unbelievable.

  • How is it compared to GoPro silver and Sony AS100V in terms of video quality and features? Obviously those two are more expensive. This cam is almost twice as heavy as a GoPro.

In terms of specs, the newer GoPro is better, but much more expensive. I actually have both cameras, one thing which is better in terms of this camera is actually its battery life.

Also I bought the camera to record my cycling tips, which it does much better than a GoPro due to Garmin's integration with its other devices. For example, I can control this with my Garmin Cycling computer (Edge 800) or my Fitness Tracker (VivoSmart).

Last point is that this version of the camera has apparently been discontinued, with only the Elite still being produced rather than the basic version. But for the price offered, along with the bonus battery and mount, this is a really good deal!

    • But is GoPro water resistant at that weight?
Virb is IPX7 unless you want to go diving.

I own a Virb Elite and I have considered getting a 2nd one without GPS for recording as a motorcycle rear facing black box.

FYI: buy your Virb accessories form Ryda in Sydney - cheapest I have found.

  • Says $229 on website?

  • Looks like the price has gone up!

  • It's back on again :)
