Wireless Printer with Automatic Double Page Printing

Hey I know there is a page already on a wireless printer but I was hoping for some current deals and recommendations please :)

I'm looking for a printer with the following
-wireless printing for iPad
- double page printing
-scanning
-something that doesn't use a lot if unnecessary ink
- cheap as possible! Under $50 would be great but can go under $100 if need be

The other thing is we don't have many shops locally so will need to have it delivered. Some places are pretty good but others are way too much as I'm in a countryish area.

My uses will mainly be for study and scanning :)

Thanks!

  • you mean duplex?

  • Well i wouldnt have believed it, but apparently you can get duplex multifunctions: http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/technology/pr… (and press the duplex option on the left)

Keep in mind inkjets rape your wallet. IMO i'd rather buy a seperate scanner and laserjet printer

  • Yes that's it duplex :) and office works costs around $25 to post to my town unfortunately

    • have a look on dick smith. postage is $10 when i types in cobar postcode

      • Thanks there was one on there that I fancied but it must have been a bigger one as postage was $34.95

I'm just not sure which brand or type is best, I'm used to canons…but open to anything as long as they are reliable and somewhat cost effective
Edit: this was the one http://www.dicksmith.com.au/canon-mx536-all-in-one-printer-d…

  • missing one point:
    need tobe laser!

    • Are the toners expensive to replace tho?

Unless you need colour they're much more economical than inkjet in the long run. Even moreso if you opt for generic ink rather than the brand name stuff.

      • yeah trust me dont buy inkject or colour. get laser mono.
with inkjet, if one colour run out some printer will refuse to work even you want to print black

  • Here was another one I was thinking of but read some reviews saying it chews up ink http://www.harveynorman.com.au/hp-envy-5530-photo-and-docume…

I think inkjets by definition "use a lot of unnecessary ink" and really this would limit you to a laser printer IMHO. I don't think you'll find anything that suits your requirements at < $100 unless you're looking second hand.

If you don't need colour printing, here's what I recommend:

    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/multifunction-printers/samsung-s…

    • laser
    • multifunction
    • wireless
    • duplex printing
    • $150 + delivery (hopefully not too much to your place)

      everything is good but

      Manual Duplex Printing

means you need to manually turn the paper back to print on both sides?

      • Oh you're right! My apologies. Hopefully OP can find a better solution.

with auto duplex, there is brother one, forget the model number but its close to $200 and no wireless.
          nothing perfect!

@erwinsie: There is such a thing as a Wireless Print Server out there, I actually use 2 Netgear WGPS606 units for other purposes as they include 4 ethernet ports as well as the 2 USB printer ports.

They are old now but still do wireless B/G which is fast enough for most print jobs. Being old, people that don't realise they still have worth are throwing them away or selling real cheap.

I got one on Freecycle and the other for $10 on eBay

          http://support.netgear.com/product/wgps606

I actually use mine for file transfer to my Topfield PVR's for videos. Slow, but works OK via the ethernet WGPS606 to PVR

Fuji Xerox DocuPrint M225DW - laser, mfc, duplex, wireless. MSY price around $109 but not sure about stock.

    • no fax :(

Fax ??? Do people still use these???

        M225DW $103 + delivery

Having worked on a loooot of printers I would suggest that mono laser is the preferred way to go. Usually I recommend a separate scanner but each to their own.

Inkjets are cheap to buy but the per page cost including ink is too high if you're printing a reasonable volume.

believe me or not, HSBC sydney still think fax is the most "secure" way to send instructions
