Inflated RRP: Fraudulent Misrepresentation or a Typo?

Hi seen a few inflated RRP's in my time, but surely today's deal by www.1saleaday.com.au must take the cake.

They are purporting to sell Compact Binoculars that have an RRP of $199 for $3.99.

I have googled the model number (VIVITAR CS530), and can't see any evidence they have been sold at anything more than $10 anywhere in the world!

  • i'll assume its a typo, and should be 19.99 . There are multiple typos in the advert.

    • Mmmmm…..The us version of this site had these same binoculars for free + $5 shipping with a stated RRP of $50.

Anyone who purchased these thinking they are quality, will be sorely disappointed when they are cheap pieces of plastic!

      • it is a bit unfair, but i take the view, if it's too good to be true, then it probably is.

      • After receiving mine (what a sucker) yesss, i can confirm… 100% JUNK!

        • I think it would be well worth requesting a refund.

At the very least it is a significant error which results in buyers misjudging (by a country mile)the quality of the item.

I'd be demanding a full refund as a matter of principle…..(purchase price, shipping, and return shipping).

The (un)intended typo, certainly seems like a very deceptively calculated typo, if that makes sense.

If you complain maybe they'll be ordered to go to the ACCC's office like Mr Kogan.

      Yeah I agree…..

They had two deceptive figures, one was the RRP ($199) and the other was the Saving (~$195).

    • The more published "deals" I see by the company, the less inclined I am to believe it was a mistake.

Another example is today's handheld car vacuum. Retail Price $65, sale price $9. Again, these items have sold nowhere in the world for more than AUD$15 (most closer to $5!). That's a 400% embellishment in retail price!
