Woolworths EDR Apology Discount

I went to Woolies yesterday to buy some bread and lettuce and it came to about $12. I went to self check out and scanned my Everyday rewards card and I got an "EDR apology discount" matching the value of my purchases bringing it to Nil.

I thought it was related to the recent spend $200 or more and get $25 off your next shop promotion which I didn't get at my last shop. Is this what it is?

The self checkout machine probably pitied him and gave it to him for free :)

    • A lot of bread for big family: 3x $2 loaves of bread, pack of bread rolls for $2 and lettuce for almost $4. But I got it all for free due to an EDR Apology Discount, anyone know why I would get this? I've had $10 off next shop but that was a voucher but I had to scan it to get the discount.

What bread and lettuce did you get for $12?

I hope you went back to get more things for free…

No I didn't but I will be heading back tomorrow for a bread and milk run and see if this continues

Tell the self-checkout machine that you demand another apology, because you don't believe the first one was entirely genuine.

  • Interesting how it made it $0. Was there no further info about what kind of discount you're eligible for, or how much more discounting you have left? (on receipt or anything?)

Keep us posted on how many more dollars you get zero'd off in future shopping trips :P

FWIW - bread and lettuce is expensive for me too :( I go through those packaged salad-leaf bags (baby spinach, rocket, baby kale, mixed lettuce etc) daily and they aren't cheap unless you stumble across a bunch with clearance tickets on them. When you do though, it's like winning the lottery lol.

I got an answer via email from Woolies, so no magical EDR card but as I expected it related to the $25 discount that never happened. This was the email I just received:

"We would like to let you know that due to a system issue, you missed out on receiving a saving of $25 from our ‘Choose your own reward’ email offer."

"To make it up to you, we have credited $25 to your Everyday Rewards card for you to use the next time you shop. Your credit will be available on your card, number xxxxxxxxxx, to redeem at your convenience between Monday 2 February and Sunday 15 February 2015."

So I can do one more $12 run of bread and lettuce for free ;)

I have a strange question. We received one of those spend $150, get $20 coupon EDR offers.

Despite meeting all conditions, we didn't get the $20 coupon. We contacted the EDR live chat team and after confirming all details, they said they'll send us a gift card instead.

I'm pretty sure that they've sent the $20 gift card via registered + signature post. We found a "sorry we missed you card" in our letter box. The only problem is that this card is addressed to MR Ewok , as the EDR card was registered to Ewok. The only problem is that Ewok is our Shih Tzu.

So my question is, will they let me pick up the letter from the post office? I'm happy to bring Ewok along.Has anyone been in this sitution before? What did you do?

Edit: Off the top of my head, Ewok has the following IDs:his birth certificates, his many graduation certificates and awards, dog tags, council registration papers, a postcard from his vet (addressed to him at this address) to remind him that he is due for a desexing.

    • Don't worry Jar Jar. I'm sure you can be annoying enough to the postman to let it through :D

get Ewok to sign the bit of paper that says someone can collect on his behalf

    • LOL, thanks for the funny of my day.
