Does it need to be those exact dates? Or just that long in may?

    • Same length but for the right price we could possibly leave a few days earlier.

  • Don't think you will get it cheaper. Enjoy your holiday

$4.82 Cheaper on the same dates with Jetstar

$1060.18 if you book through https://www.rumbo.com I'm sure you could also price match through another booking site if you don't trust Rumbo.com

Pay the man, make sure you get direct debt so you dont lose the 1c rounding

    • Thanks for looking at options. Though I may not go with Rumbo if yours remains the best price send me a pm with your paypal email tomorrow and I transfer you $2.41 when booking is confirmed. :)

    • @rewstar - I just went through Rumbo to confirm the price. It's actually $1,126.75 though. The price they're displaying initially is for payment with Diners only. Sorry but no Deal.

      • Ok no worries. I didn't try and completly check out with the prices.

    • You Sir are good at this game. This could have worked nicely. Certainly hadn't considered buying someone else's ticket. Would have been hard to convince the missus that this is legitimate but seeing it's local might have made it easier. Sorry I missed it. Thanks for sharing.

  • you can probably do cheaper, by going on Air Asia via KUL or Scott via SIN or Cebu Pacific via MNL(but would u want to with an infant).

Your incentive is not really much of an incentive for agents. Even if could get you $100 off, that only $50 less Paypal fees.

BTW-we now advertise a lot of our fares to LAX in Xmas school hols on Gumtree.

As it's FREE we don't have to allow for advertising costs.

We used to sell on ebay but their costs once you sell, went up a lot, which meant we had to increase the prices in the 1st place, which kind of defeated the purpose of selling on there.

We still accasionally put ads on ebay, but only when a client is unable to travel & not covered by travel insurance for cancellation for legit reasons.

By simply paying a name change fee, we can sell ticket to someone else & as purchaser dealing with an agent, rather than someone unknown, funds are secure & we can even take Paypal if new passengers wants to pay that way & have some sense of security of funds.

    • That's exactly why I posted on gumtree sourcing information from the crowd rather than from a travel agent. $50 to a lot of people on here would have made for a very nice incentive. And if I had seen obe353s post before I booked and everything actually worked out it could have easily worked out to a $150.

        $50 doesn't buy a lot of time.

It's how you value your time.

Many agents now do fares at their cost & charge for the amount of time involved.

Many fares agents have access to aren't even online.

We don't do Bali, but it's hard when anyone tries to compete with LCC's with lots of hidden costs(bags, meals, seating)

That great price online looks fantastic, until extras added in.

BTW-fares will almost always be exactly the same, on any airfare website.

BUT … take this into account, if say looking for 2 seats & there are 3 seats left at a particular fare.

If search on one site for 2 seats, it holds those seats for few minutes. If look at another site at same time or shortly after, it can only see 1 cheap seat & fares aren't averaged, so it shows 2 seats at next fare level(called fare bucket).

Another myth is, the more seats you buy the cheaper it should be, whereas the opposite is true.

There are only a small number of cheapest seats. It almost never that any airline says every seat lwft is at same price.

  • I got $1036 via I want that flight > helloworld.com.au
Didn't get all the way to check out.

    • Sorry dasher only saw your reply now. Would have been interesting to see if it pans out. The trick I found with some booking machines is that they wouldn't include the mandatory charge by some airlines for infants.

Thank you for all your replies. Booked the flight at 11am this morning directly through Jetstar using POLI payment to avoid booking fees.

I will certainly try this again with some more notice. I think this could be a nice win-win concept.
