Phone warranties

Hello everyone,

I am looking to buy either a LG G3 phone or a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in Malaysia (holidays) due to cheaper prices. I am just wondering how warranties work? Do Samsung or LG have international warranties if they screw up (I live in Australia) and if not, will I have to come back to Malaysia to have the phone repaired? If so, would it be more advisable to buy the phones back in Australia?

Cheers!

  • Hey, From my understanding all product comes with 1 year warranties. Some warranties cover pick-up faulty product, some don't. The only expense you will have is shipping cost for oversea (sending it from Australia back to Malaysia for fix).

For example i brought laptop of JB HI FI and if sometimes goes wrong i call them up and they will send someone to pick it up from my house, so i don't have to pay for shipping. If u buy over sea you would have ship it back to Malaysia, unless they have shop in Australia also.

If you buying from online shop, check they customer service first, if they replay back to to e-mail/phone. if someone goes wrong you will need to contact them.

BTW don't forget phone warranty is void if you drop your phone. I damaged my phone the screen had small crack and is was on plan they said sorry cant help you because you have damaged the phone. so warranties is petty useless.

Is the warranty only voided if there's a crack on the screen? I've had Apple replace a screen and Kogan replace a phone for different (non-screen) issues but they both had dents in it from drops. Maybe I just got lucky.

      • Ye You got lucky, I fully sat down in office even made customer care talk warranty people. said they not allowed to sent cracked screen or dents also.

  • If you buy it from Australia you are covered by: https://www.accc.gov.au/publications/consumer-guarantees-rep…

  • how much cheaper are you getting the phone for ? most people weigh the savings against the hassle of warranty claims when buying from overseas.

you would handle your warranty claim by mail , at your own cost ( delivery/return ) they might send it back to you free , but 100% they would make you pay for the shipping to them, and this can get expensive/anoying because of the batteries they have in them
