Looking for the cheapest and best solar power lights.

Bought some from Bunnings and they died within a few months.

Looking for something good looking and decent and a good price.

THANK YOU!!

  • Assuming you mean the individual ones on a stake?
I haven't seen any that aren't junk, but most have an AA battery as the power source.
I think it will be this that fails. So cheap ones with a better quality rechargeable battery might be a better bet.

    • Yep, the cheapie ones I've got have Ni-Cd batteries. Think one is still working. Problem is even replacing the batteries with new Ni-Cd basically doubles the cost, and switching to eneloops or other Ni-mh batteries is far too expensive.

      • Keep in mind that Ni-Cd batteries contain cadmium, which is a heavy metal and toxic. They harm the environment and are banned in Europe since 2006.
Ni-Mh batteries are a better alternative anyway, because they have a higher energy density. Ni-Cd batteries however tolerate deep discharges better and are usually a bit cheaper.

I got solar powered lights from Coles (the ones for $2), but they all failed within a year. I tried replacing the cheap Ni-Cd batteries in them with Eneloops, but it didn't work because the charging mechanism is a different one.
