Need to Buy a Fridge

We bought a new house and are going to move to new place. We don't have any fridge yet and looking for new one, which will have at least 480 litres. I find that some Top fridge is bargain but love to have a French door fridge, it looks cool. Our need is just big fridge, bargain and high energy star as high as possible. It would be great if you give us some advises. Thanks

I found this one maybe suite our need, but still seeking for people experience and advises:

Some fridges, especially "bargain" ones, can be a nightmare.
Take a look at feedback in www.productreview.com.au
The samsungs/whirlpool are the bog std issue these days but if a bit of quality where it counts is important then look for Sharp / Misubishi.

    • I did look at product preview.com.au and read article in whirlpool forum as well, but I need an up to date advice with price too. That's why I open this to ask everyone.

We currently using Samsung 519 L top mount.

  • I have a Fisher and Paykel E522 and its awesome!

Huge fridge compartment, and a large freezer.
Having freezer at the top is more energy efficient but having it at the bottom is far more convenient. I went with convenience.

I saw some french door fridges this weekend at Good Guys and the doors seem to be really deep and take away from the space inside the fridge itself.

    • is Fisher and Paykel ok? Where is it made ? I'm not familiar with some popular brands in Australia.

      • They manufacture in Australia and New Zealand.
F&P is a really good brand.

  • What is the space available? That might narrow down your list considerably. My space is 171cm high and most fridges I'm looking at can't fit in that space.

    • I think it is not limited as nothing on top of it. but I will measure the width and depth again.

  • You are aware that white goods are usually very negotiable…
""but I need an up to date advice with price too""
You just have to figure out what you want and the price you are happy to pay for it.
Don't forget to check out delivery & install costs and costs involved with disposing of your current fridge.
Some of the online appliance retailers are good but it is also worth your time checking the b&m stores online too.

Drew… How long have you had the f&p fridge? They did have a horrid reputation for repeated failures but these things can change.

    • I don't need to dispose the old one because it's not mine and not fancy with water dispenser like this http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/lg-601l-top-mount-refrigerator…. Just basic fridge with not bad looking. Therefore I don't think I need to pay install cost and maybe, just maybe, I'll be take it home myself.

what is b&m by the way?

    Bricks & mortar.. B&M
You can lift a fridge? You are on ground level?
Go to stores and look … can view online..
    https://www.google.com.au/search?sourceid=navclient&hl=en-GB…

    • I don't think I can lift anything over 30 KG, except my wife. and Yes, our place is single story. I went to TGG and kinda like this fridge http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/samsung-469l-top-mount-refrige…. It has almost everything I need basically, except it made by Samsung. We are using Samsung, it's noisy and sometimes it turns all our food into ice somehow in cooling storage, not in freezer

  • If you say you cant lift more than 30kg how are you going to take it home and install it yourself?

    • My wife can lift 20kg, then I lift my wife, so it's 50kg lol…OK, I think I will ask for my friend(s) to help me too, but I think we can handle it

Also look into Panasonic Inverter Fridge.
I bought 1 year ago very happy with it.

We actually ended up with a Samsung back in December and we love it. We did find the factory setting a bit cold by simply adjusted the temperature gauge and its fine now.

In terms of reviews - know what size space you have - that can cut options down dramatically. The. Look on appliances online, harvey Norman ect for models you like. Usually if you google the model number you can find reviews. The most important thing is to go and check them out in person as things like internal layout or quality of internal fittings can vary dramatically across brands and models.

With respect to pricing - I rang multiple different different stores and tried to get people to price match online prices. Amazingly harvey Norman of all places had the most unbeatable price on offer for the model I wanted. Hundreds cheaper than the next closest offer. so it pays to compare - I always thought harvey Norman was a rip off until this experience.

  • Hello, I am looking to buy this http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/electrolux-510l-bottom-mount-r…
any one currently using this and any better place where I can get cheaper?

    Thanks

    • you can use http://www.staticice.com.au/ to compare. In my experience, bottom freezer is better practical than top one, believe me.

  • I bought a Samsung and it's good :)
