  • Would've gotten the HDMI cable but 1M is way too small.

    • I'm the opposite - been looking for short HDMI cables to do all my patching from devices into my receiver.

Why doesn't MSY have a modern site?

    • +10

      They're the ultimate no-frills store.
Skimping on everything, in order to sell at very cheap prices. Pretty good if you know exactly what you want.

      • +2

Exactly. Most of their customers know exactly what they want.

Name of product. Specs. Price. No other information needed.

    • i agree!!

have been dealing with them for years and the site has always been a pile of dog poo

they also skimp on salaries from what i hear

  • Good price for the TP-Link 8 Port Gigabit Desktop Switch. Metal case makes this nice and weighty. Just as pitty it only has indicator lights and ports on the same side.

Gold Plated Oxygen Free Copper Cable

Nooby trap here. I mean $6 isn't steep at all, but there are 2 qualities in digital cable: They either carry the signal, or they don't. Different story with analog, but HDMI is digital through and through.

    • the benefits from gold plating is actually to do with wear and tear. Gold won't tarnish, therefore it won't ever have connection issues down the road (where you'll need to spend 30 seconds every 5 years cleaning the tarnish off a copper connector).

Oxygen free is complete crap, it would even change it if it wasn't a digital signal (not any more than anything else does, atmospheric pressure, temperature, the distance between pluto and jupiter…)

  • $129 for 2 portable terabytes is expensive.

  • Anyone have any experience with the power line adapters?

    • Had some that didn't work at my old house but gave them to a mate where they worked great . His house was a lot nwer with non dodgy electrical . Better to purchase from someone with a better return policy .

  • +1

IMHO, MSY website is no less functional than that of DSE or JB-HiFi.

    • +1

well yes but that is kind of the point, they are no frills, and generally significantly cheaper than DSE or JB HiFi.

  • That Cablelist HDMI 1m cable is very satisfactory - I started using mine on Saturday - but when I bought it about 3 months ago it was only $2.
