SanDisk Ultra Plus 128GB SSD $75 - PC BYTE

10

As the Aussie dollar falls prices of SSD seem to be on the way up. This looks like left over stock so is cheaper than the current retail elsewhere.

There are a couple of other slightly cheaper options Kingston 120GB for about $72 and Patriot Blaze for $71 but I think the UltraDisk probably is slightly better quality.

Shipping is $7 to NSW

  • Sorry to be asking a silly question but this SSD can be used with existing SATA cables (power/data) in my desktop with SSD bracket?

Yes should be possible - If this is going to be your OS drive you will need to clone (not copy) the original drive. Not sure if SanDisk bundle cloning software with the drive however there are a few free options available for download

Yes, SSDs would not use IDE cables…

Depends on the laptop - Some older laptops designed for a HDD, just use standard SATA connectors.

The storage interface for your laptop I think is SATA 2 so the drive will fit as is but will not be as fast as SATA 3 which is much faster. The drive is compatible with SATA 2 and SATA 3.

Umart had these for $72 last week. I picked one up for a friends laptop. It cured what ails it. Its a 7mm drive with a bracket included. I recommend a fresh install of windows and no cloning, half of that old windows install is what killing your machine anyway. You can always grab any data you missed from the old drive you pulled out. Its kind of crazy nowdays how everything is online and stuff and formatting your boot drive aint no thang.
