Help: Windows Update today - affected fonts in browser? (not bargain related)

Hi all,

I'm a computer noob these days. My laptop is running Vista and just performed an update then rebooted itself. Typical, never had an issue following updates previously.

I was using the laptop prior to the update and fonts etc were fine in Chrome… now they're stuffed. Even the text in this text box which I'm writing in looks all.. wrong (like a printer running out of ink or something? lol) Screenshot here

Everything else re: appearance on Desktop appears unaffected. Most other websites also still look as they were - however OzBargain and Gmail, I've noticed, have had their fonts affected. I can't quite tell what's changed though. It's just.. different and awful.

Help? Anyone else had similar issues after Win updates? Solutions?

Thanks!

It looks like ClearType reset. Rerun the ClearType Text Tuner and select more visible text.
If that doesn't fix it, remove the latest patches from Windows Update.

Edit, looks like you have the font problem described here

    • Thanks hellbound! :D All fixed thanks to you.

That link described my issue, so I simply uninstalled KB3013455 from the updates, rebooted and ta-da, all fonts are back to normal.

      Cheers again.

  • If that fails reinstall/upgrade your video graphics driver. Some drivers use a font type that throw things out of whack.

    • All sorted now, but thanks for your help :)
