  • Hmmm, weren't these a dollar or two cheaper last time? In any event, they work well, have one in my DSLR, hasn't missed a beat yet.

    • I picked up some of the sandisk 32GB for $13,99 but they were on clearance back in Dec.

  • Hmmm the windows phone looks interesting, wonder whether it is 512 ram, which most likely is.

    • -1

      It says 2GB lol

      • Where?

        • +1

certainly he is kidding on that, it has 4GB storage but most likely 512 MB ram
it would be a steal if it is 1GB ram.
if that is 1GB ram, one can throw in the Windows 10 Mobile beta OS for fun… is well worth it.

  • is this brand reliable?
I am using a Lexar micro SD and it's quite good quality. Should I expect read errors and or slow transfer rates with this "Medion" brand micro SD?

    • aldi brands are reliable

Used many of its SD cards (big one) for cameras and stuff (DSLR), some perform better than brand names like Sandisk.
However, I have not used their microSD as yet.

      • "Aldi brands are reliable" I refund quite a number things for being unreliable, but also have some that work decently. I won't generalise Aldi based on these few products. Eg. The USB drives are really slow.
To OP, try them out if you think it's not good for any reason, refund it.

    • Aldi/Medion don't manufacture flash memory. It's just re-badged in the same way that Kogan memory cards are.

Even if you were to find some reference to the original manufacturer - especially in the context of the way Aldi buy stuff, that may well vary batch-to-batch and year-to-year.

Data from performance testing software can provide clues to origin, as can numbering on the card itself, and… sometimes, even the packaging it comes in, but - ultimately - only taking to the card with nitric acid can reveal just who made the controller-chip, and… maybe… who made the NAND-flash cells. Those two can be different.

  • Yeah, not sure about the Medion phones though. Bought one recently and the battery life was woeful with hardly any use. However, we ended up returning it as my wife complained that it became very hot on her ear after 10min talking and gave her headaches. To me, that was not worth the risk (if any). Anyway, to Aldi's credit, they refunded the money with no questions asked.
