Looking for a Very Budget Pc for under $200

I am looking to buy a new (not ex-lease/refurbished) very budget pc for sub-$200 if possible. I don't really care about specs so long as it is new. I bought one some time ago for $199 from Vision Tech during their Xmas Special. I am using it as a low-grunt and headless 24/7 machine. Thanks.

  • What are you doing with it? The pipo x7 seems to be pretty good, it just takes ages for it to come.

    • I just needed a regular pc. I have no need for a media box. Will be using it as a file/backup server mostly.

      • It is a normal PC. Sort of. It runs Windows 8.1 and is an x86 based processor, so will run windows file sharing, and anything else that Windows PC's run. You will need to use an external USB storage device.

I'm guessing he wants a regular desktop PC because as a file backup server it's going to house a few hard drives in it, and it may need data redundancy as well.

e.g HP Microserver but these will set you back around $259~299 depending on where you buy. Nice handy devices though.

Have you considered getting a NAS instead? If backups are all you need to do and the device is going to be turned on 24 hours a day, a NAS is a better low power solution.

  • Get onto your local freecycle chapter (freecycle.org and search for your suburb) and put up a wanted.

IF you were near Maitland, and did this then I would be able to offer you 4 machines right now…

I realise these are not new and you specifically want new - but on freecycle the price would be a bargain…

  • raspberry pi 2 and external HDD's <$50

    tons of blogs forum posts…

  • Tell us the use case and we can better recommend
I am guessing Scrimshaw is right and you need a NAS or small server
