Hi Ozbargainers!!
I'm currently interested in getting a Cello to learn, 22 years old this year, proud Pianist as a hobby and also for my Church. After playing around with a few of the songs we play (Hillsong type stuff) I thought it would be awesome to include some strings like Violin or Cello into the mix. My friend already has a Viola and is really excited to maybe start an Orchestral band type thing on the side to add to our game. I've always been interested in learning a string instrument and a Cello has always been on my wishlist.
After a little research, it suggests getting a 4/4 (full sized) Cello as I am over 5 feet tall but I will most likely go into a music store to see first hand how comfortable that is. However I currently don't have the means (or not sure the dedication) to pump finances into a full-blown new Cello and I do hear that it can get quite expensive.
I'm hoping that you can point me to a fairly decent Cello, whether it is new or second hand (maybe an Ozbargainer here can refer a fellow Cellist to part with a Cello they no longer use), or what my possible options are if I want to get into it. No one I know plays a Cello so I can't get this information myself, and I haven't seen places that actively promote this instrument.
My budget is currently looking at $500, +/- any suggestions that are perfectly reasonable

Most people seem to recommend renting a cello and/or trying before buying (that is, avoid buying online wherever possible).
