Refund Procedures?

Hello everyone! :)

I have a question as to how refunds are normally processed.

So I bought a Mac from JBHIfi December last year and I received a $75 off voucher (on purchases of over $150) - everyone who buys a Mac gets one from them.

Anyway, I used this voucher (which is valid only for 4 weeks) to buy a 2DS. However, I realise that I won't have time to use the 2DS and want to return it.

My question is:
1. Given that my refund would be normally accepted (ie. no problems if I pay with credit card, cash or gift card etc) does using a voucher that has already been expired (on the date I refund the product) mean that I revoke my rights to a refund?

Basically, JBHifi would accept my returns but I am afraid that since I used a voucher with special conditions, and a shorter expiry date, that I would revoke my rights to a refund?

PS: I am overseas until 2nd March so I can't go in store and ask!
Cheers :)

You'll most likely receive the full value of the 2DS placed on a gift card.
However if the voucher says on the receipt that it is a DISCOUNT, then you will only receive the value excluding the discount.

Either way, you'll be able to return it and receive what money you paid.

    • Oh thanks! It's not a discount per se; it was a gift card valued up to $75 (for purchases of more than $150).

      The receipt says "APPLEVOUCHER"

      Thanks for the response anyway!

Hey, don't want to burst your bubble but I'm not sure how much luck you will have trying to get a refund if you're not back until 2 March.

Their refund policy says "change of mind" is only available for electrical products within 30 days, second page, top middle, here's the document: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/Documents/Consumer%20Warranties%20…

From the dates you've given it sounds like it will be outside the 30 day window by 2 March (and may already be, depending on when it was purchased). Note it also says "Refund may be available after 30 days if breach of Consumer Guarantees" but I think you would have a hard time trying to claim that one. I've never had to return something to JB so not exactly sure how it works, maybe they will still give you a store credit but it doesn't sound promising.

I would be contacting JB as soon as possible online, maybe if you get a refund started in their system it will buy you some time until you get back.
