It depends on which Health Care card you have but I think the ones I'll mention below are valid for all types of health care cards.

Reduced price prescriptions for approved medications.
    Bulk billing at GPs
Reduced prices for entry to certain events.

There are other benefits available but some of them will be different depending on what state you are in.

If you are in Victoria and you have a child in a funded 4 year old Kindergarten program you can get the kinder hours fully funded instead of only partly funded.

Australia Post also offer reduced prices for some of their services depending on the service and the type of health care card you have.

This isn't a comprehensive list. There are more benefits out there but I'm not certain of all of them. Reduced cost public transport might also be avaialble.

I think that you also pay a reduced amount for motor vehicle registration and get a discount on utility bills.

    • The benefits you're referring to come with a pension card, not a health care card.

      • You do get a discounted price on car registration and the option of paying for 6 months of car registration at a time, rather than the whole year's at once.
This is the case with VicRoads anyway.

      • I get both reduced Rego and discounted utility bills with my Low Income Health Care Card. I also have concession on public transport.

        • Well there you go, I stand corrected. It obviously varies from state to state.

    Concession rate on public transport.

It depends on your state though.

    • It depends on your state though.

In NSW you need to be claiming the full benefit to get a concession card, and it's separate from the healthcare card.

      • No idea about NSW, i'm in Perth though and health care card holders get concession rate.

  • I believe movie tickets are cheaper as well
