Incomplete invoice for car service

I had my car serviced from a dealer who didn't give a complete invoice of what exactly was serviced, stating there's a fault in their IT section resulting in non-generation of a full invoice. I spoke to the dealer a no. of times but the same response. I lodged a complaint to the manufacturer but that made no difference. I'm not satisfied with the service because what I've been given is labour and parts cost only. The mechanic said he did check the wipers but one was clearly broken and needed replacement. It resulted in more suspicion the way the service was carried out. NOW WHAT DIFFERENCE WOULD IT MAKE IF I LODGED A COMPLAINT WITH NSW FAIR TRADING. I don't mind naming the business if any one is interested.
Thanks in advance for your guidance in resolving the issue.

  • From what I know, job sheets at mechanic's garages are all pen and paper. They print out the job sheet, stick it on a writing board with a pen. As the mechanic is carrying out the checks or doing what is asked to, he ticks the boxes. Its also how he logs time against each work.

The job sheet is then submitted to billing, who translates it into your invoice. If the IT section isn't working, they could have just given you a copy of the job sheet maybe?

Someone who works in a workshop might be able to correct me if I am wrong.

What on earth do you think fair trading would or could do ?
