How Much Price Negotiating Wiggle Room?

Hi guys,
I'm planning to buy a near new/demo Suzuki swift GL 2014 (auto) soon and was wondering what people think of how much (if any) wiggle room there would be for negotiating the price?

Going by the prices on carsales, some demo's advertising at $15 650-$15 800 (with 250kms)
'New'/near new starting from $16 000's

would aiming for or close to 10% off RRP be realistic for these prices?
Thanks!

  • Good choice, have sold Swifts before. What state are you in?

    • I live in NSW

      • +1

Given prices of the 2015 model are actually about the same as the 2014 plated car, I'd be negotiating on a 2015 plated vehicle (for the extra $500-$1000 it's worth it down the track).

Look at the GL Navi because the Garmin sat-nav is a great unit.

Those prices aren't RRP, they're already discounted, and unfortunately Suzuki don't leave dealers with much wiggle room on their advertised prices. Given a new Swift GL is $16,490 drive away currently, and $17,990 for the Navi, aim on a discount of $1,000 but don't be suprised you only get about $500-$750 off.

Also, specials change every month, so those prices could change come March 1st.

And Suzuki only offer 6 months rego on their drive away prices, aim on 12 for the quotes (and usual full tank and floor mats).

Swift has excellent value and are generally bulletproof cars, so get a 2015 model and enjoy :)

        • Thanks for the great advice! :D

I didn't know that Suzuki only offers 6 months rego so I'll keep that in mind!

        • @yipyip:

Sold them up until 12 months ago, and still work in a dealership that sells them, so I wont count myself as a rep but I'm well versed in them.

And I do stand by the fact that you will be happy with it, and happy with the resale! There is no benefit to me stating that and you purchasing, so its an unbiased opinion :)

          Oh, and consider adding these:

Same as on the GLX. I think they're only about $300 fitted, and just change the look of the front, make it more modern :)

        • @Spackbace: I can confirm this, my sister bought one about a year ago and a half ago and she loves it. I think she got a 2013 middle model one (can't remember the name) for about 17,500 (I think $18,000 something was the ticket price) with a bunch of extras, like mats and revers sensors.
