Need to Sell a 2000 HYUNDAI ACCENT GLS. Best Price to Accept?

HI GUYS

I just bought a new car so the old car needs to go.

Its a 2000 Hyundai Accent Manual with power windows and runs very good. a few scratches on the body as it is normal for a car this old.

What is the best price i should accept for it? How much would you pay. The rego is about to expire. So please take that into consideration.

Cheers

A 14 year old Hyundai with scratches and no rego? A case of beer. Maybe 2.

  • I don't really see why you have posted this here… Wouldn't carsales be a much better guide?

Old car, average condition and no rego. Not going to be easy to sell unless it's dirt cheap.

No rego automatically adds around 1k for the buyer. You're probably looking at around the 1k mark.

  • How many KMs? What condition are the breaks, clutch, tyres etc in? Hows the interior? WOULD it pass a rwc?

I'd say list it at $1,200 but take anything over $1000 depending on how much work was needed. I had a look there are the same models listed at nearly $6000…. Who'd pay that much for a 14 year old car?

    • Car has pink slip done on it. 180k kms interior is much better compared to the cars of this age.

        list it between $1,200-$1,500
Take anything over $1000. Also did you buy a brand new car? Ask what you can trade it for?

  • a roadworthy certificate will cost around $250, probably 4 new tyres required another $400, add rego for a year at $600…. that's $1,250 already… and if roadworthy inspection uncovers something like a chip on the windscreen etc…. more costs! So you car is basically good for scrap and you may get $400 or so.

    • Exactly what I was getting at.

or, the OP can spend the $1,250+$60 or so listing fee for car sales.com giving $1,310… and then sell for the valuation of $1,350 and make $40. So it is a no brainer… it is scrap metal only and get around $400 if lucky.

Honestly, I would probably take anything around the 1k mark. If you can get more, good for you.
It's just not worth the trouble to get a few more hundred dollars really…

  • search car sales and see what everyone else is listing them for. Pick. Small number if you want it gone fast, pick a higher number if you are prepared to wait.
