FlyScoot- Buy a Seat?

Hi, looking to use FlyScoot airlines for short travel to Asia. has anyone bought a seat upfront before? the T&C said a seat will be assigned upon check in if no preferred seat has been purchased. do they only assigned economy seats or there's a chance the "Stretch" and "Super" seats will be assigned too?
Also- how is Scoot like in terms of their punctuality and service? are the planes really re-used Singapore Airline planes or just another Jetstar?
thanks.

It's a low cost carrier, you'll get what you pay for and nothing more. They make their margins by selling you 'extras'. You won't get upgrades unless you pay.

Not personal experience but I've had friends who have flown them and it sounds exactly like Jetstar. Expect a low cost carrier experience and you won't be disappointed. Expect anything more and you may be left wanting.

  • Nothing like Jetstar. Far superior.

At check in, in Q, there were sign saying upgrade to Scoot biz at every corner of maze for $79.

They even did it, once we were on aircraft.

We asked really nicely if flight was full.

It wasn't quite & they gave us an empty seat between 2 of us.

Food was basic(preordered), but for the price it was incredible. Can't see how they make a profit, but apparently they do. Guess they must use some of Singapore Airlines backoffice.

Worst part of whole trip was Coolangatta airport.

Why do you you need to go through security tog et into domestic part of terminal & then again to get into International. No short cut apparently.

Coming home, we landed 5 mins behind air asia & not enough customs people on & q was just stupid.

  • It's pretty basic but service was good and friendly and I appreciated the free water dispenser near the toilets - byo bottle. (Small things like this make me happy) You won't get an upgrade for free - they will try and sell it to you even when you are onboard.
I never pay for assigned seats but they sat us all together. Unlike air Asia who sit children away from their parents in the hope you will pay to sit near them - don't tell them but I would actually pay more to sit away from my children.
