Try the cheap chinese $2 dollar shops dotted around the area.

    • Sorry but this is bad advice. You're best to go to a reputable Australian business vs risking a Chinese $2 shop.

The eyes of a 1 year old are VERY susceptible to UV damage. Much greater than that of an older person. Our eyes in built defence against UV is our squint reflex from sun glare. Sunglasses effectively deactivate that reflex which is why it's super important you only but from places you have compete confidence in. The products MUST adhere to Australian standards. I've tested sunnies from $2 shops and market stalls and they fail a lot. They can be really unsafe.

Ideally you want ones with polycarb lenses as they are great at offering UV protection.

  • I don't know if there's a Kmart near you, but they have good sunnies for cheap for little ones. Both my kids have sunnies from Kmart and love them.

    • Oh cool. Yeah there's a Kmart close by.

Do you have a website link to the kids sunglasses and cost?

when I tried to search for kids sunglasses in the kmart website it says:

      "product search results for "sunglass"
Unfortunately there were no items matching your request.
(Don't give up - check the spelling or try less specific search terms) "

      Thanks

      • I don't think they have the stock online. If you go to the health and beauty section, they will be around there (near the make up and stuff).

Generally, kids ones are about 3-4 bucks. Quality is pretty decent too, given my 2 year old has had his all summer and not broken them is amazing, given he can break anything just by looking at it.

        Good luck :)

        • OK. thanks

  • Pumpkin Patch clearance ones usually work out the best for us - I usually pay about $7 a pair for the girls ones. Much nicer styles and better quality than the really basic ones.

They are surprisingly dear in Target, Big W and Best and Less. Usually about $15-20.

Other place we tend to pick them up cheap is at market stalls for a few $$. Not sure what you have locally though.

Ali express.. get all my sunnies from there these days.. prices start at around 2 bucks delivered.

not too sure about kids sunnies although I'm sure there'll be plenty.

  • Try a polarized swim goggle.

  • You really should be looking for polarized sunnies if they're not simply for looks.

Another thing you need to consider is fit - I originally bought the $25 Thomas polarised sunnies from Target for GS, and when they got misplaced I couldn't find ANY elsewhere that were not too big. My suggestion would be, cut costs elsewhere if you have to, but buying decent sunglasses for little ones is an investment in their health ….. one feed at Maccas is going to go a long way toward the cost of a decent pair.
