Installing OCZ ARC 100 120GB SSD on ThinkCentre M58 (7360-R29) Desktop

Can I install OCZ ARC 100 120 GB SSD on ThinkCentre M58 (7360-R29) Desktop? There seems to be no extra space except 1 HDD bay, the HDD is failing so need to upgrade.

Getting the OCZ SSD via Gumtree for 40$, is there any way to check it has not been used as claimed by the seller?

  • You do not need to mount the SSD in the HDD cage, if you want to continue using the HDD.

It has no moving parts, so you can just use double sided taped or velcro or whatever and attach it to any flat part of the desktop.

Just make sure it doesn't fall off and hit any part of the motherboard.

If you want to replace the HDD, you can buy a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter that allows you to mount the SSD into the HDD bay.

Apart from looking at the packaging and seeing if it's sealed? No, you cannot check it on the spot. You'd have to connect the drive to a PC and read the SMART data off it.

I don't recommend buying an OCZ SSD from Gumtree. Why not just buy a new SSD? They aren't really that expensive brand new and you will get the full warranty length.

    • Well, its about 90$ new. This seller says its an unopened box with receipt, so 40$ seems a calculated risk. Can you give the link to 2.5 to 3.5 adapter?
