Honduras is the second largest coffee producer in central America. Over a million Hondurans work in the coffee industry, representing 22% of its rural employment.
The municipality of San Marcos is a small town located in the region of Ocotepeque, west of Honduras, bordering Guatemala and El Salvador. In Ocotopeque, most habitants are engaged in livestock and agriculture, where growing coffee is one of the main activities. This region with small farm holders is one of the leading producers of specialty strictly high grown coffee in the world. Coffee is more than just a business here in San Marcos. It is a lifestyle.
