  • It is very hard to find the owner of a website if they are hiding there WHOIS.

The website is hosted on Amazon
    Ip address: 54.66.173.106 (ec2-54-66-173-106.ap-southeast-2.compute.amazonaws.com)
2014-01-11 it was using 200.115.171.76 as IP address (godaddy)
2014-02-21 it was using 184.168.221.69 as IP address (http://www.ccihosting.com/ some type of anonymous hosting)

Port 80,443 and 3389 are open.
    Hosted on a Microsoft server

https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/webmasters/ap… (I am thinking you a type of doctor and you are worried?)

The website name has a Instagram account? It might be the owner but I don't think so: https://instagram.com/doctorinspector/

That is all for now, Have to get back to work.

  • Cheers guys. Looks pretty dodgy. It has obviously been set up in a way so they can hide easily.
What about the ads on the site- are they google ads?
If I set up a 'hidden' website, how do I arrange it so I earn money from google?

    • google dont particularly care where their ads are displayed.

It's not "hidden" per say, it's just using a proxy for the site owners name. It's like registering a vehicle in a company name. If the police look up the owner, the registered company will appear, not the driver.

There are quite a number of legitimate reasons to use a proxy. When i was the registrant i got a tonne of spam emails and calls from people advertising SEO services. A proxy would have resolved the issue.

It doesn't exclude you from legal proceedings too. You can still make a complaint to their ISP, or ICANN. You can still contact them, just through their proxy email.

    • Davo1111 has answered your first question.

So you want to earn money from Google? Firstly, you need time and patiences.

Come up with an idea that you believe a lot of people will visit your website. Your aim will be for your visitors to come and then return later on.
The website you asked us about was pretty smart, they had a lot of the pages with the doctor's. Am..so when the users Google their name it would of been on the front page which more visitors visit to your website = money from ads.

Getting visits is a very hard thing and earning money from ads is also a hard thing. You will need a crap load of visits to be able to cover the server costs.

Most people start off doing no ads, then when the site starts getting more and more popular they add ads.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

(If you are in this for money, this is not for you)

      • Most people start off doing no ads, then when the site starts getting more and more popular they add ads.

+1, Scotty for example, started ozbargain as a blog. Then advanced it as a forum with volunteers, then now has staff. If he had started the website in its current state, he would be in debt.

On the flip side, it's interesting reading about Kogan using google adwords to his advantage. Hes worked out the cost per acquisition and buys ad placements accordingly so they he pays the least amount per number of purchases
