SavvyTel no more, suggestions?

Savvytel finally decided to shutdown on 31 April 2015 and force few dangling bargainers onto a search for the meaning of life non-expiring credit. The question: is there one? Or how close can one get to the perfect unexpiredness?

There are some important changes happening to the Savvytel network.
The Savvytel Network will shut down after April 30, 2015.
From this date you will no longer be able to make or receive calls using your Savvytel SIM.

  • I guess I will have to stay with Yatango as I have $120 of credit lol (was a mistake on my part) and I dont really make phone calls much :/

    But crap 90 days :(

    • I guess you would have to min top up it until you talk it all off with Yatango.

Amaysim PAYG post paid. Don't forget to use a referral code for $10 bonus credit!

I wonder if you can also get the $20 yatango referral bonus

    So .. alternatives for Savvytel
I am thinking of Aldimobile - minimum $10 for 180 days on Telstra's 3G network.

I wonder if there's any better or similar alternatives?

    • It looks like it is $5 for the first year with Aldimobile (SIM with $5 credit) and then $15 per year from there on?

      • You could probably port out and back every year to keep it at $5/year.

It depends on your spend, usage profile and preferences. Amaysim PAYG postpaid is a good match for CCNE users who spend very little. Lycamobile is probably the lowest commitment pre-paid option but has a high flag fall and higher rates to mobiles tnan Amaysim. CMobile Red PAYG is a better option than Aldi if you want casual data and are happy with the Vodafone network. Dodo prepaid mobile PAYG has similar rates to Amaysim PAYG but has rollover on its data packs. Voda also has data rollover with a smaller pack available but call rates are much more expensive unless you can justify a cap but a low annual spend if no calls are made.

BTW, freakthe you may have something there about also getting the normal Yatango referral bonus. I couldn't see anything in the terms of the Savvytel offer excluding other offers. It might be worth contacting Yatango customer service if you don't get an answer or can see from a trial run, However, that would deprive you from collecting referrals from other providers on the way. e.g. Amaysim.

      • Correction: Either I missed it the first time or its been recently added, the Yatango migration offer now explicitly states the referral offer cannot be used in conjunction with it.

  • Should really discuss this on whirlpool :p
