Another Modem Thread: Modem Reset to Factory Settings

Do I need to restore a modem supplied by Telco to its factory settings before I can use it as a "bridge"? What's the best way/setting to use said modem to extend wifi signal to another room?

If it's too difficult, I might just sell the modem. Should I reset the modem to factory settings before selling, or it's ok to leave as is and let the buyer tinker with it?

Cheers

    No

    Yep

    • No

You don't need to, but i generally do out of practice, plus it's good to update the firmware anyway

  • What make and model is the modem?

    • Netcomm Wireless

      • There are LOTS of Netcomm wireless modems. Find the model in the list here:

On here, you'll find links to all sorts of helpful stuff such as the manuals, default password and IP settings for when you factory reset it, and what it's capabilities are.

    • reset the firmware
    • plug it in and configure wifi.
    • Plug a lan cable between ports 1-4 on the old router, and plug it in ports 1-4 on the new router
