Trying to use QFF to book US domestic flight on a partner airline

Hi,

I need to go from LA-Boston in July.

Tried looking up QFF to see if I can redeem from there.

It said I can only book it as 'classic' rewards. What does this mean?

when I finally got to the points pay, the only options are first class.

so how can I book an economy/coach flight on a US domestic flight?

Any one know?

Thanks

Classic Rewards are the "normal" rewards. There used to be an option to pay more points/cash for any seat (ie not limited like classic rewards).

If the only option is first class it means that all the reward seats have already been booked for economy. There are only a limited number of reward seats on each flight. You can try other dates and see if there are any seats available.

Sometimes it can be easier to call and find out when there are seats available then book online.

    • or maybe don't go direct.

A few years ago we wanted to go from Las Vegas to New York, but could get anything direct, but our travel agent found us some frequent flyer seats via Dallas, which is one of the busiest airports in the world. We had to kill a few hours at airport, but saved us a lot of money.

Apparently travel agents can look up frequent flyer tickets a lot faster than we can at Qantas website.

We even thought of going into town tos ee where Kennedy was shot, at Daly Plaza, but 7 of us meant 2 taxis & didn't want to get lost.

If we did it again, would do flights with at least 5 hours in Dallas & go into city.

  • If you can pay cash check Southwest airlines, I used a few months ago and flew Bos from LAX for about $240AUD (one way).

    • how was it? i booked SWA to fly from LAX-SF cos they were around 25USD cheaper and included more baggage

  • Keep in mind also that this is peak holiday season the US so FF seats are going to be in high demand.
