From my reading the Breville Smart Grinder (the 820 model), often available on sale at $199 would be a better option in this price range.

    • Yeah, I think you may be right! Thanks!

    • Another option is Breville Dose Control Pro which is Smart Grinder Pro without LCD screen, $179.80 at

  • I went into Myer today to see if I could get the Breville BCG820 for $199 (or less) and they didn't have stock when he looked it up on the iPad stock software. I assume that meant countrywide (though it could have been that store only). If it's countrywide either Breville are having production issues or there is a new model coming (which might explain the mid $200 prices for it I'm seeing.

    • BCG600SIL $169.15 at Myer

      • Yes, but that's not an evolution of the 820. Interesting that it's not yet on the Breville site.

        • Mechanically they are the same. the way of dose control is different. The 820 is slightly more convenient if one changes doses frequently as 860 does not have a SHOTS/CUPS button. But if one weighs the beans before grinding that difference is probably irrelevant.
