SGIO (WA) Comprehensive Car Insurance Quote Too Good to Be True?

Did a quote for a 2012 yaris on http://www.sgio.com.au/wa/comprehensive-car-insurance-1 (with $50 off currently) and turned out 50% cheaper than my Allianz renewal quote and quotes from AAMI and Woolies (even with their $100 off offer)? These other quotes were all $400+/yr. What am I missing? I can't see what's excluded in SGIO's comprehensive car insurance that might be important. Many years ago, a family friend made a claim through SGIO with no problems, so I know they're a decent company.

  • I'd say ring them or use their online chat tomorrow when they're open. It does look like a good savings…I've had good luck with APIA- though might check SGIO myself just for the sake of arguement.

    G'night

  • +1

You may be missing nothing, I had a long interaction with SGIO after I moved 1 km and my 'too good to be true' car insurance that I had kept for several years with them virtually doubled, it turns out that they target small areas in which they want to gain business with very low rates, try a quote in the next suburb and you may find your quote sky rockets back to normal..

  • Just use the quote. Alianz was amongst the most expensive quotes when we were looking.

  • Check you are comparing like for like - it might be market value not agreed value, also check the excess amount and NCB protection.

  • Thanks, everyone, for your advice. I tried the quote for a random suburb on the other side of the river and it turned out just as cheap. I've also doubled checked the excess amount and added NCB protection… it is market value but so were my previous ones and I'm fine with that. Went ahead and took up the quote.
