iPhones go up 15% - get in quick

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Apple's put up prices on iPhones by around 15% overnight, but outlets haven't reacted yet, meaning if you're going to get an iPhone 6, 6 Plus, or 5S, get one today, from somewhere other than Apple.

Looking at Static Ice a lot of retailers have either made their online listings "out of stock" or have jacked up the price inline with Apple Store prices.

Get in quick if you want to buy at the old prices (which ironically look like a bargain now) :(

Whoever thought an RRP could be a bargain :S

  • If anyone still wants iphone 6, officeworks have the 64GB For $997

    • I don't and hopefully no one else does either. Boycott this fruit loop.

Why? Because a multi-national corporation sets their prices in accordance with exchange rates? Do you know how ridiculous this sounds.

  • Should have got the Kogan deal a few days ago :/

I hope ruslan isn't still tendering for the best price. Could end in tears.

    • It was the 16gb model though. Bit pointless spending $700 on a phone to find you can't even store your dog pictures on it.

      • Yeah that's the only reason I held off..

  • Apple can bump up their prices as much as they like, but rich middle-class people will still keep buying their products. Apple products are status symbols, and the primary goal of middle class folk is to acquire as many status items as possible. Heaven forbid these pampered aspirational-class darlings use an Android phone or tablet, or a generic Windows PC.

Rich middle class may buy these phones but I've seen plenty plenty of average folks with iPhones.

      • Yeah iPhones are very desirable amongst kids too. Gotta give it to Apple, they have appealed to everyone… even people who clearly can't afford yet need it for that finger print scanner or because their $120 per month contract needs to be renewed

So Apples Australia Tax is 15%?

Just looking at 6 Plus 128GB.. outright price is US$949 in US. At todays exchange rate, that's AU$1247.
Apples old AU RRP, $1249, and now $1449. (actually that's 16%)

If only the phrase "vote with your wallets" would work…

    • +4

      AU$1247 plus GST = AU$1371

      • of course.. forgot about GST

    • 4 US States don't pay sales tax though! ;) (Delaware's Apple Store sells the most out of anywhere!)

You could have bought a less expensive phone and donated the rest to red cross. Just saying!

  • I bought the 6 plus 128gb brand new for $1000 off ebay. Felt dirty to pay the full $1250. Now it is apparently worth 1.5k?! No idea who will actually go pay that much in store

    • Maybe not in store but they might still be able to sell to people on corporate plans?

      • Not sure but corporates AFAIK sign up employees for the base model (16gb) as they want to boost productivity via emails accessibility etc.

        • We got two choices at work. 5C 8GB or 128GB 6. I went with the 128GB.

        • @jlogic: Thats great. Why would anyone chose the 5C?

        • @rapoot6: Cost. From memory they are like 1/4 of the cost. Gets billed to your deparment.

  • Apple mostly charge for the brand and logo, not the phone itself.

  • Managed to get iPhone 6 gold 64GB with no sim card charge and first month fee waived from Iinet final price 946$. Shipped in 3 days.

  • Sorry final price paid 960$ it was a typo
