Good Options for Bridging My Network

Hey, I'm looking for some awesome Ozbargain advice to some possible router units I can purchase in order to bridge my network to the upstairs of my new house (via the in wall Ethernet). I'm hoping to be able to support gigabit speeds as my house is still due to receive fttp NBN in the coming months. The modem/router I'm current using for my ADSL connection is a Netgear N750 Dual Band gigabit router. Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Just buy any N router and plug the cable into one of the 4 lan ports. (disable DHCP first)

A few weeks back MSY had a sale and I bought 2 cheap routers. They're super basic, but do the job fine. The only downside is you can't override the "power saving" settings.

    • I do this on my own network and it works great.

    • I know the basics of bridging my network, the purpose of the post was more to gather some suggestions on some deals on capable devices. I apologise if my op wasn't clear.

The ASUS RT-AC68U ($200 RRP) is one mean beast of a router that will handle all the file transfers you can throw at it. Highly recommended on Whirlpool as the best router for bridging. Load DD-WRT or some other third party firmware on it, and enjoy.

If $200 sounds a bit too rich for you, about half the price you can grab a TP-Link WR1043ND v2, and load it up with Gargoyle firmware.
