  • Wouldn't this be old stock? As cantabury lost its contract with wallabies for over a year or two now? Either way canterbury is an awesome brand, i just bought shirts of their website. NZD —> AUD conversion is an awesome bonus

    • The split with Canterbury has only just happened a couple of months ago. The new jerseys are to be made by kooga, there's an article on them here: http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,26083354-5016959,00…

I much prefer the Canterbury one, but with the new supplier, it's quite likely that the price of them will drop everywhere shortly. Still, I think $70 is pretty good.

      • true, my canterbury has lasted me over 5 years, travelling in 8 different countries.

    probably fake from china

  • +1

Canterbury stores are selling these for about the same price, and the 'replica' jerseys (what the players wear, with the round loop collar) is $90… I'd pay that extra bit to get the that nicer looking one though :P They've been on sale for a while now, so probably stocks are low if not all sold out already…

And just off topic, I dunno why the Wallabies would choose Kooga over Canterbury, because IMO they make the best looking kits… most Kooga kits look really terrible and the materials are not that detailed made. I guess getting a smaller company to make kits will lower the fan gear prices but I hope they would go back to Canterbury. The contract with Kooga is 4 years (1 RWC exposure), so let's see what happens then.

    • although you may say that the quality of kooga may not be on par with canterbury… i balance that out with the fact that kooga is a company from the Gold coast, whilst canterbury are from new zealand.

      • Kooga is a UK company (is produced in Qld) and has been around since 1997

Canterbury is a NZ company and has been around since 1904

        • yeah… that's kinda why I prefer Canterbury. It's not about which country the kit manufacturer's from (All blacks - Adidas, Springboks - Canterbury), but rather how established the company is. Usually the longer they've been running, the better stuff they produce. Local doesn't always mean better, if we were to give priority to local companies that kinda slackens competitiveness to bring out better products. I wouldn't mind Kooga kits for NRL teams, but rugby union definitely Canterbury stuff.

I think the main point is that Kooga should prove that it can design aesthetically pleasing, good looking and sophisticated fabric materials and sound quality for at least 10 years (and build up the brand in the meantime) before they sponsor the Wallabies.

Something off the point but for some reason I think NRL kits are pasted with ads, not specifically with any kit manufacturer.

But as for below to Cakesy's reply, that sounds despondently true. sigh. Even rugby ends in golf.

And just to lighten up a little, there are still some of these round loop collar jerseys available at my local Canterbury store in Brissie!

    • Quality rarely comes into these issues, it is all about politics, and what happens on the golf course.
