I was browsing the EB Games website and found this. From past browsing of their site, this product has been out of stock so I was quite surprised to see this today. Unfortunately the closest one for me is still pretty far away for me and I only want the adapter. I actually called Nintendo Customer Service a few weeks ago and they told me the adapter was out of production and that I should look to buy one online from overseas.
Anyone have any other info?
Yes it is. I've contemplated getting it from Play Asia before but decided against it as there is an additional shipping cost which pushes up the price even further.
The combo popped back up in stock a short while ago but I guess there were not many of them. For some reason, NintendoAUNZ basically said that after they ran out of stock that was it. Although the adapters have been popping up in America for a short while now too. Strange situation since there is clearly a big demand for them at the moment. EB sell another generic Gamecube adapter though if that's any help.

Don't know if anyone apart from me even cares about this anymore but two days ago Nintendo A/NZ posted the following on their official Facebook page:
Smash Bros. fans! The GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U will soon be available only at select retailers at SRP AU$29.95! Please check with your local retailer as availability dates may vary between stores.
I called a few local retailers today and none of them have an information yet.
I got an e-mail this morning from EB Games support and they told me pre-orders were available. I went to my local store and did so. :D
Bought one today from jb Elizabeth st melb. $29, had 4 more in stock.
Yeah, I got mine over two weeks ago. I don't think they're that hard to find anymore.
