Japan Jetstar Specials

Hey i am wanting to go to Japan in Feb 2016.Jet Star appears to be the cheaper option over Qantas
I am from Sydney - it doesn't bother if i fly from either the Goldcoast or Melb
Does anyone know when they usually post the specials for Feb departures ?

I recently went to Japan with Qantas to be honest i wont fly with there old rattly aircraft again . I was fortunate to travel business class - i was in seat 2A on there OLD refurbish 747 . The plane shook and rattled all the way over there - taking off and landing - well i thought the front wheel was going to come through the cabin . I returned on Jetstar to the Goldcoast - a much smoother and quieter ride - although we were delayed leaving Narita for about two hours - aborted take off due to a de icing issue on the right engine - that didnt bother me - better safe than sorry i say …..I know its a budget airline but i could fault them in star class - seats were comfy etc .

Hoping someone can tell me when they usually release there specials for Feb ?

Cheers

  • yeh i would like to go to sapporo for the snow.

  • +1

Keep an eye out from August, generally you pick them up around Oct/Nov for February.
They get posted up here on ozbargain pretty quickly.

    • Ohhh Thanks heaps for that

  • I would say a good 70% of the full plane coming back were Skiers - Check in was a nite mare with economy with everyone's Skis ….Spoke to several people who were there we Sking they were saying its far better Sking in Japan then here in Aus ?
Tokyo has snow also occasionally - i woke up one morning and whamo SNOW !!! Although it didnt last long it was still good to see

  • Yeah we go for the snow. Ski around the Nagano region, won't ski Aus or NZ again after going to Japan. Value for money and quality of snow Japan wins hands down.
FYI Qantas are starting direct flights from Brisbane this year on the A330's (to Narita).
We've always done the direct flights on Jetstar (from Gold Coast) and always get there early for the check in as they generally have 2 or 3 people to check in the whole flight.

  • Yeah i know QF are starting the Narita Flights . Jetstar is the cheaper option in my eyes - There on time performance is a bit of a hit and miss but i can suck that up for saving $ hahahaha + There brand new planes !!!

    • Is Jetstar really cheaper with all their costly extras? I really enjoyed my flights to Japan on Qantas( I should add I had a bassinet and therefore enjoyed the hell out of some more leg room) but found Jetstar to feel quite small and uncomfortable for room plus it worked out more once you add extras in. Though I would totally put up with it again at the right price.

Some dates I am looking at currently with Qantas it would cost me $1098 for a Syd-Nar return flight, with 30kgs checked plus carry on, meals/drinks, entertainment.

On Jetstar it will be $1076 for Syd-Nar stopping in Cairns return, no baggage other than carry on, no meals/drinks and no entertainment. If I add in the same baggage, meals/drinks and entertainment as the Qantas flight I have to fork out at least an extra $300, on top of an already longer and more inconvenient flight.

Add in Haneda flights soon and it becomes even more convenient to fly Qantas.
