Unmetered Netflix to Optus

Who knows much about Netflix coming to Australia? Optus have announced unmetered usage which is awesome! (i wish they did it with music streaming as well)

My question is, does that mean one can technically get a prepaid sim for his or her iPad through Optus, and stream movies and tv shows without a recharge? Wow, if thats the case, Optus, prepare to be exploited

  • I'm afraid that's not the case. Unmetered will be for DSL/Cable based services online and unmetered never applies for streaming services such as Netflix, YouTube, etc, especially for PrePaid or PostPaid services.

  • +1

I don't think so. From Optus' announcement

Un-metered Netflix: From 17 April, Optus fixed home broadband customers will be able to stream as much Netflix content as they want, without metering

It's only available to fixed home broadband customers, i.e. Cable or ADSL.

    • Would that also include NBN?

    • oh thanks dude

  • FYI, IINet are doing the same thing.

  • Sucks, where I am there is only wireless internet available.
