I picked up two of these today along with a MultiRoom Hub (haggled to $65 instead of $79 based on this price http://www.zylax.com.au/home-theatre/24445-multi-room-hub-la…) as a cheap-ish upgrade over the average speakers in my Samsung UA65HU8500W while I save for something snazzier. Am no audiophile, pleasantly surprised with how they sound.

EDIT:

  • Does the speaker replace the TV speakers seamlessly, ie, no second remote required, turns on when you turn on the TV etc? Also, how does it handle dialogue in TV shows etc?

    • Yep, once they're set up for the first time.
(In your Samsung TV Speaker settings change from TV Speaker to 'MultiRoom Link' - only compatible Samsung TVs, check first).

Turn on TV, speakers sync up in a second or two and you're good to go.

No second remote required. Volume control is still handled via the TV (so you can still use a Logitech Harmony etc.) Only minor niggle is that the actual volume # disappears so I see 'MultiRoom +/-' No huge deal I suppose but something to be aware of.

I haven't noticed any latency/delay when watching something but it IS there I think.
(When I first set up the M3s, the TV speaker was also playing sound and the M3s were very slightly off that) On their own, lips on TV sync up fine with what I'm hearing but I've since forced the M3s to use 5Ghz wireless only so not sure if that made a difference.

As an aside, the Android MultiRoom app has a couple of speaker settings in addition to all of the streaming options - turn on/off LEDs, adjust speaker positions in surround, adjust gain individually etc.

I'm pretty happy with them for the price and would probably pick up the M5s or M7s to complement for now if they drop in price a bit. Then I can move them all to the spare room later on.

You can always buy, hang on to the boxes/receipt and try for yourself. If you're not happy, scoot on back and get a refund.

EDIT: If you pick them up, let me know how you go.

      • Thanks for the in-depth reply… it is this day to day stuff that the reviews should cover but almost never do. I have a UA55H6400 being delivered soon so I will pick up an M3 and a hub.

        • You're welcome and no worries - happy to have helped.

Congrats on your new TV and all the best with the M3 / hub!
