Anyone Recommend a Good Cheap Matte Hair Wax/Clay?

I've grown my hair into a new style after having it very short for most of my life, thus I don't really have much experience with hair wax etc. I'm after something matte as I don't like the wet/oily look. Does anyone out there have any recommendations for a good cheap matte hair wax or clay please?

Thanks :)

  • Isn't "hair mousse" what peeps use if they don't want the "wet/greasy" look? It was all the go in the 1980s… erm… I'm told. It comes in deoderant-type spray-cans.

    • Mousse tends to make my hair stick together in clumps, but maybe I'm not doing it properly? I kind of want to style it without it looking styled if you know what I mean? :P

  • Joico ICE Erratic Hair Molding Clay.

Matt and easy to wash off.

It's my fav for many years.

  • Did somebody say 'clay'…

I used to use Gatsby- pretty good. There's a whole range of them for females and males, depending on your hair length and your preferred clay strength.

  • Thanks for the suggestions I'll have a look at them.

  • I've heard good things about Moose brand which you get in a little jar at Priceline. There's different coloured jars for different formulas (different levels of hold, shine/matte etc).

  • Ive been using Osis mess up ( Schwarzkopf ) for years and I am very happy with it. Its a bit expensive compared to the other products on the market but I believe its worth paying an extra $5-$10.

As far as I know It comes in wet, matte and a few different varieties as well.
