Both me and my family usually only like the French Fries at McDonald's and we always ask for them without salt. That way they freshly fry a new batch and hence are always hot, fresh and crispy. Also usually have them tomato ketchup since it taste's better!

  • If I had to pick from the choices above, it'd be Maccas for me. Never been to a Red Rooster, And not a fan of the chips @ HJ or KFC.

  • What about Oporto and charcoal chicken chips… But if i had to choose between those 4 i'd say KFC

dno why dylan's getting negged. i agree.

        • Seems to defiantly differ between stores to stores. Would love to buy some KFC chips and have a pinch of salt dashed over the top of them.

inb4 someone answers "my local fish and chip shop; fast food is rubbish!"

… or does that only apply to Who Makes The Best Burgers debates? :P

  • My local fish n chip place…

    Nandos (with peri-peri salt)

  • I love KFC Chips… and also Costi's Chips (from their Fish and Chips combo)…

  • Peri peri chips from Nando's floats my boat..fresh, crunchy and delicious!

  • I won't vote on this.
I love the Maccas fries, as well as the Hungry Jacks fries. Because KFC chips are thicker, they can be all over the place. Sometimes too much seasoned salt, but I always add pepper. Makes a big difference.

No vote on the available options - if you are lucky to have a fish and chip shop nearby that cuts their own then you are truly blessed.

Rarely order value meals these days to avoid disappointing soggy over salted chips at the major food groups, otherwise if I had to have them without the above option i would grab them from any charcoal chicken shop.

Best condiment - Medium Heat Peri Peri Sauce.

  • Aami Park - load up on the chicken salt
    Schnitz

  • KFC & Red Rooster has chips.
McDonalds and Hungry Jacks has fries.

The words might be different but in Australia most people would consider the terms to mean the same thing.

  • The 4 given options are all not very good. Nando's is ok, Schnitz is pretty good, never tried Salsas, but for me Grill'd stand way out in front. Not only in taste obviously but also in the other important consideration of consistency! Far and above the best chip in my book.

  • I am quite the fan of Oportos chips. It obviously depends on the location and how busy they are.

  • What about Grill'd?

I know they are a bit pricey and even charge extra for the sauce but it sure tastes good.

Strictly from the list only, it would be Red Rooster.

And I agree KFC puts way too much salt on their chips. They sprinkle salt after it has come out of the deep fryer and also every time before they scoop up a batch for the customer.

  • You'll probably never experience a proper portion of chips until you go to an English Fish and Chip shop, where the chips are prepared from scratch on the premises from Potatoes.

Its one of the things I really miss from being back in England.. That, and bacon which just doesn't quite seem right here.

A few minor negatives to a mass of positives for living in Australia.

  • I think the HJ owners should look at these results!
