  Anyone have personal experience with the Asus X205? I'm thinking to wipe it & put on Linux, typical use about 10 tabs open in chrome in the background (email, facebook etc are always pinned), chat client running and (ssh session or vim) active. Is it any good with multitasking?

  EDIT: nevermind, apparently installing any form of Linux is hell on these laptops. In the last couple of weeks people have gotten wifi working, but still no audio (!).

    The HP Stream 11 is on sale here for $283 and is a lot more linux friendly, but not quite as portable. It's a celeron, so probably faster single-threaded speed, but not quite as battery friendly, and probably slower when it comes to multithreading (so maybe not great for multitasking..?)

    Otherwise if you're looking for a linux friendly modern netbook, check out the Acer E11 — Up-gradable RAM,and if you get the HDD version you can stick a full-size SSD in it.
