Mid-range Android phone (approx $500) from local stores

Hi all,

I'm heading overseas in around a week, and am looking to buy a mid-range Android phone (in the $400-500 range). Since I'm hoping for the TRS refund, I'd prefer it to be from a physical store or a store that has next day delivery.

I don't have any concrete requirements, but I'd prefer a phone with longer battery life and a decent-ish camera (better than the iPhone 4S at least). A nice screen would be good, but I can live without it.

Thanks in advance!

  • Look no further then the amazing LG G2. Best battery life then any other phone i used, also recharges quickly(less then 2hrs), infrared remote, volume and power buttons are on the back of the phone so you don't accidentally tap them while using the phone. Perfect size to easily hold in your hand while still having a big screen due to the bezeless display.

    • Good phone I agree, but not the best. Could've been superior the LG G3 if it had removable battery and SD card.

  • Around $500 you might be able to get something like the Xperia Z2, Z3 compact, or even galaxy S5 (though I can't stand the ugliness)… perhaps the LG G3 too.

    • where could you buy z3 compact for around $500?

  • I can get the Z3C for $539 from Sony Australia through their Partner program (Sony X), but I'm not sure if they would be able to arrange delivery within the week…

You can look at the HTC Desire Eye from JB for about $580…same specs as M8 except both front and back cam is 13MP with dual-LED flash, and it's water-resistant

    • How do you get with the partner program? I'm looking for z3c

  • It's called Sony X…

It used to be an expression-of-interest/wait-list based program, but it's closed to new members apparently…

PM me and I'll find out more details for you. I can have it delivered straight to you and you can Bank Transfer the price if it works for you…
