  • Any bargains ?

    • full price as usual

    • A bargain is what you make of it

      • -3

You are supposed to post bargains here… read the posting rules.

Free delivery is not a bargain if you can get the item cheaper elsewhere.

        • Delivery is normally $7.99

This is for free delivery if you purchase something over $1

        • +2

I just ordered 250 x business cards, 1 x rubber stamp + rubber stamp pad. All for $3.99 + free delivery.
          I call that a bargain.

What would you call it jv?

        • @whodidthat:

What would you call it jv?

I've tried their business cards and the quality is really poor, they look cheap.
          I get mine printed locally.

If you consider it a bargain though, why don't you post in the description how others could take advantage of that price…

        • +1

@jv: When did you try them? They are bigger and thicker now.

I still call it a bargain. Unless you can tell me where to get the same order cheaper.

I did post how to make use of the deal jv!

          @whodidthat:

Unless you can tell me where to get the same order cheaper.

As I mentioned, I would not be interested in getting poor quality cards at a cheaper price or even for free. I guess it depends on who are your clients though…

        • @jv: You said "Free delivery is not a bargain if you can get the item cheaper elsewhere."

So, go ahead, tell me where to buy cheaper.

        • @whodidthat: Quality of the actual printing is still rubbish. "Premium" my foot…

        • @Chroma: I've only had one time when I had problems with the print quality (but that could depend on what the item is).

          I never mentioned premium though.

        • @whodidthat: I paid for their "premium" quality cards… Their words, not mine… which were still so fuzzy you couldn't even scan the QR code which took up the entire back side of the card.

        • @Chroma: Did you complain to them?
I did that one time and they sent replacements without question.

I've had their "premium" cards and yes, I wouldn't say premium though they do the job.

can someone create a wiki for every one of jv's comments, with stats of up and down votes - that will be gold - the wisdom of jv! and I do not have to browse to each deal hoping for a jv comment - no, I'm no stalker…

        • Funny thing is, it's not always put across the 'right way', but a lot of what he says is spot on! Most are just too afraid of being negged into oblivion!
And in this case, yet again, not put across correctly because you'd be struggling to find business cards cheaper, but VP's business cards are some of the worst quality I have ever seen!
VP is great for a lot of cheap knock around stuff, but you would never use them if you needed actual quality printing. Especially for professional presentations or on resalable products!
Also, as for questioning what bargains they have… perfectly valid. I can't say I found a single item using the free shipping that would come in below what they would normally discount them for inc the $7.99 shipping fee!

  • +1

    my stored "free" items

Long time user of VP and it doesn't matter what you have in your cart from last week, it'll change to whatever today's prices are!
What free items do they currently have?

Also, codes have never been stackable and a lot of their advertised deals now automatically pre-fill the code box!

    • Well that's strange, I'm also a long time user. I've just gone into my order history and picked out 2 stored "free" items (250 cards + rubber stamp) then added a stamp pad as suggested above. Total = $3.99. Here's a screen shot http://picyou.com/JGjdmr

      • Stored? Are you talking about items stored in your Cart, stored in your Portfolio, or stored in your Order History?

        • Like I said, in order history.

        • I've just gone into my order history

          Sorry, you did!

Sweet, I've been using them for about 7-8 years now, back in the days when we'd get $50 vouchers (before the drop to $40, $30 & $20), and when you'd order 1000s of promo items for free!
So I have heaps of free items in my order history. All I have to do now is find which items are in which accounts!
I'll be SURE to post the results here!

        • @Snoop: The only thing I have noticed since they redesigned the site recently, is that it doesn't tell you which are the free items you ordered - so you have to remember now!!! But it's easy for me to tell as I just keep reordering the same. LOL

        • You're a better man than I. I've tried several accounts with loads of previously free and $2 items in my history and not found a single item it works for.
          $2 cap is now $16.99,
          $2 pen now $5.99,
          Free stamps now $9.99,
          Free address labels now $9.99.
And I could go on and on. ..
Well Sir, I take my $2 VP cap off to you and proclaim you the King of VP. I'll just have to be content with my cartons and cartons of individually wrapped free promo items from years gone by!

        • Strange!
Wonder why that is, particularly as one items I ordered earlier was the free stamp.

You didn't edit anything did you?
I made that mistake once and it changed to pricing instead of free.

      • whodidthat - I can't get any of those items free - or any others. You must have some cookie or setting that I don't have. My past orders aren't helping either. Even if they were free then they aren't now …

        • Don't know, I cleared all cookies a week or so back.

        • @whodidthat: Well you did some magic that didn't work for me …

        • @davedave: I've just done another two "free" orders, don't know why I can and others haven't been able to.

        • @whodidthat: If you find out, I am sure you will let us know

    • Well codes and deals used to be stackable, they used to use a cookie in the email and you could stack a coupon code on top. I used to get a t-shirt, 25 magnets, a baseball cap, 50 post cards, and another 100 postcards all express delivered for about $6 back in the day. They changed the way their site worked and I have bought only essentials since. I'll be using this deal today.

      • Likewise. But like I said "never stackable", and most of the deals nowadays pre-fill the code box rather than merely being a web link so it's not easy combining two deals anymore!

        • Well yes I could actually stack an email deal (cookie based) with a coupon code from another email deal. I did this for years, not just once or twice. I used the $2 deals mentioned above with a 20% code on top. I would combine their Monday deal with a Thursday deal if there was a minor overlap on times.

You are sure right though, since they changed the system it now forces the coupon code and the email cookie together. That's why I only buy what I need now rather than wildly buying stuff like I did. Plus the deals are not as good anyway. No $2 deals in ages… No dollar value codes… Oh well, it saves the trees from all those free post its we bought with our names on them.

        • Here's a snippet of some of the free Promo items we've still got left. http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/80583/29420/20150327_14…

On top of that there's been a heap of $2 items… like pens, calendars, etc. Plus a heap of Nike, Puma, Mossimo, Rip Curl, Holden, etc. T-shirts! Seems they've never had an issue with printing copyrighted material!

Oh and anyone that bitches about getting all the free stuff, I guarantee we've spent a damn site more with VP than 99% of you!

        • @Snoop: Yeah I'm on my 86th order with them on my main account. Not sure how many in total. Must be over 500 items in all - that is 1 item being 2000 cards or 1000 flyers etc. I've always made sure I pay something. Even if it was only a couple of $$

      • Yes! I remember when you could do that. D'ya think they cottoned on?

  • YIKES! Just went to order 2000 business cards and the surcharge to go from Matt to Glossy is $45! That's $115 in total (double coloured). I can go to a real printers for that much. I used to order this exact combination for $20.

  • I can't find ANY free items. Please can someone help me pretty please?

    • Short answer "NO", long answer "Sorry, didn't find anything of any appeal value wise"!

      • Thanks Snoop - not the answer I hoped for - but accurate!
