Finding Iata Approved Bird Freight Boxes in Vic

Hi all,

In need of a bit of help, I've had a lot of trouble finding iata approved bird boxes. I spoke to both dogtrainers and jetpets but they're charging $60 for a shoebox sized box.

I'm wanting to bring my two budgies from Perth to vic. Birdworld had them but they were dirty and used, full of poop. And feathers and goodness knows what else. Was at a store in melbs and they didn't have any there even though they said they did on the phone. The Pet stores visited and spoke to in Perth tried to sell me some that weren't iata approved.

If anyone can make them or knows someone who sells them at a reasonable price, please let me know.

Also, was looking to get a pet transport company to.bring them over but I've not heard great things about jetpets and they charge a ridiculous amount for two little birds. Door to door is double. Any advice with bringing them over is also greatly appreciated.

Thanks heaps,

Pyro

We shipped my sisters bird to Perth from Sydney on our business Startrack account she bought a bird shipping box from a local pet store yep about the size of a shoe box made of MDF with a lock, and took it with her bird to the airport and sent it using our account number and it cost all of around $30 as we had a negotiated rate the box was small. Ask around for a friend who works where they have an account with Startrack if you can. You will need to have someone pick up the bird from the destination airport. Good Luck!

  • Which pet shop did your sister get the box from? It was a nightmare looking for one in Perth. Birdworld had gross ones.

  • my sister got it from a pet store in crows nest sydney that has since closed. It was a pretty simple looking thing just made of wood unfinished but lockable did the job though the bird arrived fine. Maybe ask your vet about the boxes.
