Remote for Kodi PVR

What sort of remote should I be looking for for a home built PVR system.

Any good deals on the ebay sale ?

Cheers.

I believe any MCE compatible one would do just fine. But I have not looked into this for some time now. I got a MCE compatible IR receiver and I got it working on Linux quite fast I remember before putting it away and never using it again :).

  • Don't forget that there are Kodi remote apps for iOS and Android that are pretty good, too.

  • I guess it depends on how much you want to spend and how much you want your remote to do. As mihai.petrescu suggested, most "Windows MCE" will work with most setups. Logitech Harmony are decent remotes and they were an option I was looking at when I was considering a HTPC as I liked the idea of it replacing several remotes.

These days I am just using Plex to stream to my devices and this cheap USB remote has served me well when I cannot use HDMI-CEC on my TVs.

  • I quite like the Harmony 650 for my remote, can control the TV and powered amp/speaker setup from the one remote. Harmony 650's are usually about $40.
To use the Harmony with a Windows Kodi install, you'll need a RC-6 compatible infra-red receiver like this one There are a lot of HP knock off types that will be a few bucks cheaper, but these matchbox sized IR receivers seem to have better response (as in don't have to mash a key to get Kodi to move)
