Looking for a unit to sit by TV .. Running kodi or something of that ilk .. Also have a USB tuner to plug in.

Interesting idea but what's the power consumption and noise from the laptop ? Considering it'll prob be on 24/7 is there much difference between that and a nuc ?

Is a celeron sufficient for a home media box ?
That package is a great price, if you're in VIC. Sadly their postage costs are a bit of a gouge. At $34 standard postage, I would do better just putting the same package together locally through Umart.
The Celeron model is more than enough for playback up to 1080p. But it may struggle with heavier tasks (3D, 4K, transcoding).
Yep am I'm Vic are these upgradable .. Also as well as playing 1080 would this record as a PVR OK ?

I looked for months for the cheapest HTPC Kodi option possible. Was about to shell out $300 for an i3 NUC, but then discovered there's a huge cracked sreen laptop market on eBay. Picked up an i5 Acer with HDMI, Gbit Ethernet and USB 3 for $130!! Perfect besides LCD. To be honest it was a very lucky find, but if you wait long enough you can get a much better deal than a NUC.
