Woolies not honouring some coupon codes

Moved to Forum: Original Link

FYI : Put through a Woolworths online order Saturday afternoon. I'd used 5 Woolworths voucher codes that had been posted here last week (thanks everyone), and had stacked them. This included the 24 pack softdrinks, only bought 4 of them, got them for around $9. Bought over $100 of groceries as well. Got an email this morning that says my money will be refunded for the soft drink, they are apparently "out of stock". Hmmmm, don't know that I believe that, think they just don't want to honour the fantastic price. Anyone else have this experience over the last few days?

Wrong place dude… and no, out of stock for a popular item is to be expected

Try asking them for a raincheck.

I don't think Woolworths intend their codes to be stacked to achieve such low prices. Can't blame them for being out of stock.

Sorry about putting it in the wrong place (new to the site) - my bad.
Out of stock? Of coke? Having previously worked there for nearly 10 years, the chance of that is amazingly small. I just spoke to the delivery driver who came with the rest of my goodies, and found out which store he was from. Rang them to enquire if they had many left if I came down now. "Of coke? Yeah, we've got plenty of them out the front and won't be running out…"
Am awaiting a reply from WOL.
I'm sure they didn't meant codes to be stacked, and I did feel a little cheeky doing it, but just tell me no, I can't have it at that price, don't say you haven't got any when you do.

For the sake of everyone else on here in the future who like to use codes, just drop it/don't hassle Woolies about it anymore. Don't give Woolies an incentive to drop the codes system or wind it back, just because you're crapped off that you personally missed out. That would be selfish, and pointless, wouldn't it?

What they probably mean is that the amount of stock they had allocated for online orders has been depleted/is gone. Unsurprising given the, erm, circumstances. They need to keep some stock on the floor/in-store, so they can honour the "2 for $28" price in their catalogue.

Jesus, some peeps amaze me… miss out on a deal that thousands scored/benefited from, so their response is to get all bitter, and turn their anger on the company? Sheesh.

Excuse me, but I was not "angry", was not "bitter", I merely asked if anyone else had the same experience. Yes, I'll admit I was disappointed. Way to try and knock someone down, GnarlyKnuckles. Won't be commenting anywhere on this site again, in case I earn the ire of another keyboard warrior.

        • Your post implies that you have rung Woolies, accused them of lying to you re the codes/being out of stock, and are awaiting a response. That sounds a bit bitter to me. The main 'message' of my post was that I think you should try a liottle harder to see it from Woolies' point of view, rather than hassling them on the phone/accusing them of lying/posting on public forums that you think their performance is substandard; when thousands of us have just benefited in a huge way, cause they chose to honour an awesome deal, en masse. I was suggesting, that you are potentially wrecking things for the majority in the future, because you personally missed out/ are 'disappointed'. Which I think is short-sighted/selfish.

I don't care whether you ever post on here or again or not, but may I respectfully request that you think twice before contacting the provider of any deals posted on here to complain, if you personally happen to miss out? For Whatever reason? Because that just potentially ruins things for the rest of us, in the future.

          Cheers

I did an order for click and collect for pickup on Sunday bought coke cases down to $4.80 each, used every drink voucher in reverse order most expensive to least expensive, I was half expecting they would cancel my order but picked it up Sunday afternoon (Seven Hills) at 430 pm
effectively bought a $116 shop down to $46, I am expecting in the future they may limit stacking heavily, but glad it worked at least once ;-P

I'm not sure where they are getting at, I had a out of stock notification for some eggs and then I decided to go into woolworths the same time I was due to pick it up, there were a heap of eggs left in the same variety that I ordered?

"out of stock" means "out of stock", not "not honouring"

for some pick up orders, i've had a phone calling telling me they are out of stock and asking me if i want a couple of days for new stock

I work in the online department and we had every intention of fulfilling orders, we don't usually get a lot of notice for specials, and especially for things like coupon stacking we can't prepare at all! We genuinely ran out of stock because of how many orders there were, sorry it happened to be your order that couldn't be supplied but thats just unfortunately how it happens

EDIT: at my store anyway, I'm not 100% sure about how other stores are run, but we supplied as much as we could.

Wow, good on you for providing such a polite response mitchy, you're a credit to your company. It seems to me that over 90% of the coke orders were honoured, which I'm amazed you had enough stock to do, given the rate/number of orders that evidently poured in!
So my hat is off to Woolworths, for honouring this awesomely low price/multiple deliveries etc. to the extent that they did. Things like this really do enhance "brand loyalty". Well done Woolies, great performance.
Please ignore any whingers who missed out, and then attempt to claim that you have done anything wrong; as far as I'm concerned you have done everything right. As I mention above, it is quite understandable that you need to retain some stock on the floor, in order to be able to honour the advertised special, in-store.

Appreciate that! This is only my second part time job, however, I'm really enjoying working for woolworths and I really do try to provide the best for my customers, we aren't just robots picking and packing orders, we get bummed out too when we have to send out an order unsatisfied :(
