How to Go about Asking My Neighbours if They Want to Share Their Wi-Fi with Me?

I only use internet on my iphone and ipad, and don't download movies or anything like that. I live in a block of 8 units, but only know one of my neighbours. I would obviously offer to pay half of their costs, but am not sure of the best way of approaching them… Most of my neighbours are of Indian ethnicity and I am worried they might think I am trying to scam them or something … Should I leave them a note in the letterbox?

Look forward to reading your advice :)

For what its worth, I live in an apartment building - if one of my neighbours approached me about it, I'd probably tell them no despite their offers to pay half the cost. Its just not worth the risk of them doing something incredibly stupid/illegal on your connection and having it point back at you.

    • That's actually better if you 'do' illegal things too. They could never place/prove the blame.

      • Two wrongs don't make a right?

But two wright's made an airplane.

  • I'd probably refuse because
    1. What tizey said
    2. There is no easy method in where I can know how much you've used
    3. More users usually mean slower internet speed

Though if you actually want to bring that up with them, get involved in the activities that they partake and become friends.
If it was my friend who's asking me that and if I know I can trust him (i.e. wouldn't do illegal things before moving somewhere and I get to take all the blame), I might allow it.

Or it might be better to get more expensive plan and get 3~4GB data. If it is just basic websurfing without youtube or movies involved, I think 3~4GB would be enough. You probably can check how much data you use per day easily with apps on iOS (Not an iOS user so I am not sure).
