Hoyts 5th Birthday Celebration Promotions

Alright so here's what went down. On 31st March 2015 (the day I'm posting this) about 8pm, I visited the Hoyts website to purchase tickets to Fast and Furious 7 for Friday the 3rd of April. When the home page showed up I saw that they had a 5th Birthday Celebration and that they had specials going on each week for the month of March. The deal for week 4 of March which is valid from 26th March to 1st April is:

"Our offer for Week 4 is Triple points for our Reward members from 26 March 2015 to 1 April 2015.

$25 HOYTS LUX tickets are continuing all month.

With the above 2 offers, seeing 2 movies in March to get 1 free 2D general admission ticket for April is easy."

As an OzBargainer I thought what if I was to get 2 tickets for the same movie (Fast and Furious 7), for the same night, but as different transactions so it counts as 2 movies. Then after 12am (April 1st) I would redeem my FREE ticket for the same session. I needed the FREE ticket to get my younger brother in. So I rang up Hoyts (Eastgardens) and said to the manager: "Hi, I'm actually on your website and I can see that you guys have a promotion that ends tonight where if I was to buy tickets to ANY 2 movies in March, I am able to receive a free general admission ticket that is valid from April 1st. My question is, if i purchase two tickets in separate transactions, will I receive the free ticket?." The manager then said "Yes if you purchase them in two separate transactions you should get the free ticket". I said thanks and I hung up. So I continued and after buying two tickets in separate transactions, I checked my point statements to see if I had received the triple points and my free ticket. My statement read that I had received triple points for my first transaction, but none for my second, not even the normal amount and also no free ticket. The terms and conditions for the rewards points is as follows:

"You can earn points on either one Adult ticket OR one Student ticket OR one Senior ticket per transaction"

I had made two transactions and had only received triple points for one and zilch for the other. There's one problem. The other was that I did not receive my free ticket. So I read the terms and conditions, which say:

"Terms and conditions:
Members must have an active account and have purchased tickets for any 2 movies during the promotional period of 5 March to 1 April 2015, to be eligible to receive 1 FREE 2D general admission ticket to be redeemed during April 2015. Only 1 FREE ticket will be allocated per member during the promotional period. FREE ticket expires on 30 April 2015. $25 HOYTS LUX tickets valid for purchase online or in cinema from Thursday 5 March to Wednesday 1 April 2015. Upgrade to any 3D HOYTS LUX session for $3 per ticket (excludes cost of 3D glasses). An online booking fee applies per ticket - $1.20 for General Admission tickets and $3 for HOYTS LUX tickets."

I have an active account and I purchased the tickets between those dates. Nowhere does it say that THE SESSION I booked the tickets for has to be between those dates, I just had to PURCHASE the tickets between then. So I sent an email to Hoyts regarding this issue saying that I am missing points and that I have not received my FREE ticket. Hopefully all is solved before Friday.     From past experiences, 2 movie tickets to the same session even if paid separately don't end up getting 2 lots of points. Usually you need two membership to put each ticket purchase to get points for both paid ticket.

    • I had thought about that, maybe if it was the same session it might not count. Anyway never mind, thanks for the reply
