Where to buy good quality 30m ethernet cable?

So bought a $15 30m ethernet cable off eBay and ran it under the house but after 6 months it had issues and would disconnect randomly, this would increase over time until it stopped connecting completely.

Does anyone know where I can get a good quality one that will last?

I'm just worried about paying more for an el cheapo one that has been marked up.

Thanks

  • That's odd… whats under the house? Is it sitting on any heat pipes?

    • +1 for checking the length of the cable for damage. Heat pipes can cause damage to the wiring insulation(not just the outer insulation, but the individual wire insulation as well) and cause interference.

      • Thanks for suggestions, haven't been back down there since it dc/d completely but will look out for this when I replace it. Just been using ethernet over power since then so I haven't really worried about it. But looking to fix/replace in next few days.

edit: actually might check out for any cable damage before I purchase new cable.

when you pull it through.. be kind, try not to have any hard turns.

It's easy to replace now. You just tape the new cable to the end, and pull it through in parts

  • Price is not an indicator of quality. REALLY long article here you can read.

    • Thanks, gave it a quick read and it has made me more concerned about getting dogy cable.

  • Dick Smith cable is $50.
