Need Help Determining Remote Frequency Boss OL4 (Aka BOL4) 303MHz or 433MHz?

I recently bought a new house, but unfortunately I didn't get a remote for the garage door (previous owners defaulted on mortgage, bank auctioned it).
I've figured out it's a Boss OL4 aka BOL4 but it looks like there's two types of frequncies used by this model, 303MHz and 433MHz. Aside from buying a remote of each frequency and trying it out, is there a (simple) way of determining which one my garage door uses?

Thanks

  • I would try and find the model number on the garage door opener, then do a quick search on ebay for a replacement remote. Before you buy, you can always ask the seller if it will work with your garage door opener. Most should be able to tell you if you are buying the right remote, and also ask if they will supply programming instructions, usually involving pressing a few buttons on the garage door opener to pair it with your new remote.

    Good luck.

  • You could use an RTL2832 with SDR# or HDSDR to see the RF spectrum, and hence which frequency it's transmitting at.

  • @geek001 if you read my post, you'd realise that I have already done that and the model number is BOL4. There's two versions with different frequencies though so that's why I'm not sure which one to get. All the guides simply say "if your remote looks like this, buy this one…" which is simple enough, but I have no remote.

    @futaris wow, that is hardcore.
